Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman) & Golden Breed, Subjector, Shiva Trash & Shark Blood
DENIZ TEK (RADIO BIRDMAN) & the GOLDEN BREED SUBJECTOR SHIVA TRASH SHARK BLOOD SK8 JAM & BBQ! DOORS AT 4 PM! $10
DENIZ TEK & the GOLDEN BREED will be playin Radio Birdman, Deniz Tek, Visitors, & Golden Breed stuff. Deniz Tek's returning to Southern California with his US-based touring band, The Golden Breed, in tow. The Golden Breed are Art and Steve Godoy, identical twins on bass and drums respectively, and a more colourful background you're unlikely to find. Former professional skateboarders, they are tattooists by trade and cut their musical teeth in the burgeoning SoCal punk scene of the '90s as members of the Exploding F#ck Dolls.
SUBJECTOR! This is what happens when you get Sam Hitz, D.P.I. & some of the Hodads boys together to reign terror on San Diego in a sonic Skate Punk assault!
When the Sess split up in late 2008, members went on to form Beaters, Ale Mania, and most recently, SHIVA TRASH. Mark Rivera (guitar/vox) of the Sess joined Lisa Phelps (guitar) Ian Tippin (keys), and drummer Keaton Matz to form Shiva Trash. With keys and guitars (one clean, one with Big Muff distortion) filling out the bottom end, Shiva Trash carries the garage-punk energy to a more psychedelic, shadowy place. Think the Velvet Underground, Wharton Tiers, Thee Oh Sees, and early Stereolab. Lyrics tend to revolve around occult themes inspired by ideas from sources such as the film Holy Mountain and author Aleister Crowley.
SHARK BLOOD is Pat Bieck's new 2 man band (now 3) doing a trashy Dick Dale style Surf Punk jam. Todd Griffiths (Green Door Skateboards/Records & Cheap Tricks Skate Shop) has just been added on vocals to summon Lux Interior by howls, grunts and cross dressing.
