Join pianist Hsia-Jung Chang in this noonday concert as she explores the hidden motifs which define Bach's English Suite in A Minor, and Debussy's piano suite Image I. A reformed Chopin addict, Chang will illustrate to the audience how the music of J.S. Bach can be as addicting as Tetris, Piano Lunch Series is a mini noonday series designed for audiences who want to attend a short concert during their lunch hour. It is presented by piano geeks and often features intense and or esoteric repertoire. The 2015-2016 Season features eight concerts with musicians Kenneth Cooper, Beatrice Long, Cullan Bryant, Jay Kauffman, Jason Andrews, and Hsia-Jung Chang.
Pianist Hsia-Jung Chang is equally at home performing Chopin Etudes on a Viennese 1828 Graf piano, as she is playing Carman Moore's Mystery of Tao on synthesizer. She has premiered and commissioned numerous works by composers in the United States and Scandinavia, and has composed an album for the inside of the piano, Inside the Piano: 21-Century Improvisations, which has become a favorite of experimental DJ's across the country. She has been featured live on radio and television, including KUHT, KAMU, Danish National radio, Taiwan radio and TV, and on Indian TV in 2007 as the music ambassador for World Aids Day. Chang's latest recording features the piano works of Claude Debussy. Critic Marvin J. Ward of CVNC writes, "Hsia-Jung Chang channels Debussy. . . this recording easily places itself among the best interpretations, those that serve as benchmarks for Debussy's sound world..." All of Chang's recordings are available on CDBaby.com and on iTunes. For more info on Hsia-Jung Chang please visit www.hsiajungchang.com.
