Dalia Chin: Shell.Clay.Barely.Semiotics
This Concert explores the idea of shaping sound through the fascinating process of assembling, disassembling and re-assembling its various components. Throughout this program the listener will experience the simultaneous morphing of distinctive timbral layers creating complex and compelling textures in the case of Estrada's piece or coloring the melodic contour in the case of Chin's work. In Young's piece the text will be an essential component to the music causing the flute and voice to blend, and in Brown's piece the focus will lean towards thin and fragile qualities of sound.
