Water Music: On the River
The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's "Water Music" festival opens with a concert of chamber music inspired by rivers and the creatures that live in them. Performing are 10 renowned musicians from Europe, Canada and the USA. Musical selections include Smetana's "The Moldau," Handel's "Water Music" Suite in G major, "Reflets dans l'eau" by Debussy, and Schubert's famous piano quintet nicknamed "The Trout."
"Water Music" is one of the chamber music festivals CMSCVA presents annually, this time programmed around the remarkable and evocative music inspired by water. The series brings together ten celebrated musicians - international competition winners, favorite performers from Richmond's classical music scene, and world-class soloists - to bring this thrilling music to life in concerts in our modernist venue at the First Unitarian Church, and the Gellman Room of the Main Public Library in downtown Richmond.
