CHUTNEY POPCORN From The Legacy Project Collection
Dir. Nisha Ganatra, Scr. Susan Carnival, Nisha Ganatra, 1999, USA, 92 min.
Brimming over with humor, smarts and '90s lesbian fashion, CHUTNEY POPCORN is a delightfully entertaining investigation of what family values look like at the intersection of American culture, Indian culture, queerness and interracial love. CHUTNEY POPCORN screened at Outfest in 1999; the original elements and prints were recently deposited with the Outfest Legacy Project For LGBT Film Preservation at the UCLA Film & Television Archive.
The Outfest Legacy Project For LGBT Film Preservation, a partnership between Outfest and the UCLA Film & Television Archive, is the only program in the world devoted to preserving queer film.
