Tin Can Caravan: OKC to Amarillo
Fri. Sept. 21
This ticket provides detailed travel itinerary along Rte. 66, inclusion in the Tin Can Caravan and priority admission for one person to the evening's event.

The musicians on this segment of the trip include Fred Eaglesmith Band, Roger Marin, Gordie Tentrees, Bill Poss, Tif Ginn, Jon Dee Graham.

The TIN CAN CARAVAN is an eighteen-day road trip down Historic Route 66, led by the master road warrior himself, Fred Eaglesmith. And where Fred leads, we follow. Fred and his band in their bus... and a motley crew of vans, campers, bikes and cars following, over the twists, turns and history of America's most legendary highway. Come for the whole tour, a week-long stretch, or just a day or two. It's all up to you. At least one show daily -public or private- in every state traversed by Route 66.

Pick up a day ticket here - it gets you a complete itinerary of the day's journey, admission to the show that night, advice about where to camp and an entree to the late-night hang out at the campsite.

Tonight is something different: a visit to the Tri-State Fair with a rodeo and a Ray Wylie Hubbard concert.

We depart Oklahoma City and drive over the Lake Overholser bridge, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and on to Elk City, OK and the National Route 66 Museum and the Old Town Museum Complex to wander through the life size dioramas of motels, gas stations and other Route 66 iconography. The afternoon routes us through McLean, TX for a to the Devil's Rope Barbed Wire Museum, then on past Groom and its Leaning Tower and The Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ (reportedly the largest cross in the western hemisphere). The bus ties up in Amarillo at the Big Texan Motel and Restaurant, a shrine to Texan excess (we dare you to try the Free 72 oz. Steak Dinner Challenge). And then it is on to the TriState Fair with a rodeo and a concert by Ray Wylie Hubbard at the Budweiser Stage! Can this get more Texan?

The Generic Fine Print: At the time of purchase you will receive a preliminary itinerary. At least 45 days prior to the date, you will receive a fully detailed itinerary. This ticket entitles the individual purchaser to join the Caravan for this date, between the towns listed on the itinerary, and admission to that evening's show (in most cases this will be a public concert, in others it will be a private event). Food is not provided unless specified.

Unless an itinerary specifies that admission to a specific en-route attraction is included in the price, you are responsible for that cost (that's so that you're not paying for attractions you may not want to go to).

Bill Poss (bill@theginnsisters.com) is doing the research to find out a sweet spot for Caravaners in their own vehicles to spend each night (it will be up to you to make reservations; that way, you can stay at a campground if you want, or at a motel of your choosing - it's all up to you). Bill anticipates a late evening campfire or similar informal get together most nights. Any fees charged by the campground or RV park are the responsibility of the buyer.
