WES WEDDELL BAND
"Nobody's Flag" is the fifth release from Seattle's Wes Weddell and his band, a rootsy romp across the songwriter-Americana landscape with each of the ten original songs drawing inspiration from the written word. Since 2010 Weddell has worked closely with The Bushwick Book Club Seattle, a collective of musicians and artists who write and perform new works inspired by a different literary selection each month. The source materials here range from classic to contemporary, famous authors to emerging locals, fiction and non-fiction alike - but "inspired by" doesn't mean "strictly based upon," and part of the fun is guessing the connection. The band features Alicia Healey (bass, vocals; also co-producer of the album), Brian Hoskins (piano, organ), and Dave Bush (drums, percussion). www.wesweddell.com

SILVERHANDS
Silverhands is a band that can lay dormant, hiding in the tall grass and trees for years on end, but when the songs are reunited with the players, it is always as if not a minute of time has passed since the last time they left a stage. Mikel McDermott writes songs about simple life & complicated loves, from a rural country sensibility that hasn't resided in Nashville at any time in the memory of anyone alive today. He sings the songs and plays the guitar (sometimes the bass). "Three in the Foot" is the group's third album, a fully-loaded effort with ventures into previously-unseen stylistic territories. Alongside McDermott, this configuration features Lucien LaMotte (lead guitar, pedal steel) and the MoZo rhythm section: Moe Provencher (bass, vocals) and Aimee Zoe (drums, vocals).
