Seattle Globalist Launch Party
Join fellow Globalists for an evening of music, dancing, drinks and fun at Seattle's historic Washington Hall.
SeattleGlobalist.com is a blog celebrating the Seattle region's international community and many connections to the rest of the world. We cover everything from international foods (like Japanese Fusion Hot Dogs and the best Pakistani food on the east side) to Seattleites' reflections on traveling in the Middle East as an Iranian Jew or in Las Vegas as a Jordanian-American. We've done stories about St. Patrick's Day, folk music, and human rights in Burma. We're building a community calendar and a network of writers and photographers, and we want to celebrate all this awesomeness with you!
So we are having a launch party: Saturday, April 28th, from 6-10pm, at Seattle's historic Washington Hall (153 14th Ave, between Spruce and Fir).
Early in the evening (6:30-7:30), we will have a community dance workshop with the Seattle Fandango Project. Next, the wonderful journalist, community organizer, and Seattle Globalist Advisory Group member Naomi Ishisaka will give a brief talk (7:30/8:00). And later in the evening (8-10pm) we'll have a dance party, with music by the awesome Last Night's Mix Tape. The evening will be emceed by Hidmo founder and OneAmerica Organizer Rahwa Habte, and MCDMstudent, journalist, DJ and youth media educator extraordinaire Jonathan Cunningham.
We'll have light snacks and a cash bar (all ages welcome - please bring ID if you want to have drinks!) with Chateau Ste. Michelle wines and Georgetown Brewery beer for just $3.
Please share widely!
