Dmitri Matheny Group
Celebrated for his warm tone, soaring lyricism and masterful technique, Dmitri Matheny was first introduced to jazz audiences in the 1990s as the protégé of Art Farmer. Matheny has since matured into "one of the jazz world's most talented horn players" (SF Chronicle).
Sagebrush Rebellion, Matheny's tenth album as a leader, released August 9, 2014 on the Papillon/Blue Port Jazz label. The Sound Room hosted a CD release party and the CD has gone on to receive rave reviews. The quartet recording showcases new originals, jazz classics by Johnny Burke and Duke Ellington, and favorite works by Charlie Haden, Steve Swallow and Nat Adderley. We are pleased to have Dmitri back for another evening of fabulous music with an all star band.
