Mel and The Mizfits
The Mizfits were born in Brown County, Indiana, in 2005. Jazz musician,
Mel Chance, happened to attend a performance by folksinger, Lou Stant.
On a lark, they played some numbers together. The crowd response
to such an unusual combination was, to their surprise, quite favorable.
Figuring they were on to something, Mel and Lou started performing
together regularly. Later, country bass player Steve Mara heard them
rehearse, liked what he heard, and joined them for a gig, pushing
eclecticism to even more absurd lengths. The unlikely duo was thereby
transformed into the present enigmatic trio of misfits. Later, due to
health issues, Steve Mara had to leave the trio and bass player, Dennis
Huntington, joined the group.
