Josh Thompson at The Davis Grad
Nashville recording artist Josh Thompson will be performing a live concert at The Davis Graduate on Thursday, April 5, 2012.
With a growing list of hits to his credit, RCA Nashville recording artist Josh Thompson has defined his place in country music with the simple formula of being who he is: the embodiment of whatever-it-takes, hard-working, blue-collar grit. From his songwriting that ran throughout his Top 10 debut album, Way Out Here, to the dynamic live shows that have earned him opening slots for such established headliners as Dierks Bentley and CMA Entertainer of the Year winner Brad Paisley, Josh Thompson's passionate performances and tireless work ethic have made him the epitome of the musical road warrior, playing nearly 250 shows in 2010 alone.
Last year's release of his debut album, Way Out Here, established Josh as a formidable young talent, launching a trio of hits including "Won't Be Lonely Long"; the Top 15 title track "Way Out Here"; and the Top 10 first single, "Beer on the Table."
Josh comes by his music's heartland, blue-collar work & party themes with an everyman's insight of an everyman who's been there. Born in Milwaukee and raised in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Thompson was working alongside his father in the concrete business at the age of 12, and the trade was often how Josh was paying the bills well into his twenties as his focus shifted to music.
As both an artist and a personality, Josh has emerged as an across-the-board favorite with fans, media, and industry. People Country welcomed him as a "Fresh Face" in their Country's Hottest Guys issue, while Country Weekly and AOL's The Boot have singled him out among Country's Hottest Bachelors. Fans have seen him on such programs as Fox & Friends and Better TV, and Josh earned his first major award nomination at the inaugural American Country Awards, recognized for Single of the Year: Breakthrough Artist, for "Beer on the Table."
In addition to writing or co-writing every track on his debut album, Josh has had his songs recorded by such artists as Jason Aldean (for 2010's Platinum-plus blockbuster album, My Kinda Party) and Brad Paisley (for his chart-topping 2011 album, This Is Country Music).
As for his own music, fans can look forward to a new album from Josh in 2012, kicked off by the project's groove-filled debut single, an engaging slice of time-earned life-lessons called "Comin' Around."
Doors open for the concert at 8:30 pm. Advance tickets are available for $22. Tickets are $27 at the door. For more information, visit davisgrad.com.
