Magic, Mystery and Majesty
Perhaps you've experienced the sound of handbells in your church or at the shopping mall during the holiday season and thought, "Hmmm, I really like that sound!!" Prepare yourself for the experience of handbells as you may never have heard them before. Bells of the Cascades is about to take you on a remarkable journey with Magic, Mystery and Majesty where we will explore a musical adventure of the unexplainable. Imagine things that are not what they appear, think about concepts too large to completely understand, and hear music that reminds us of the awe of the universe.
Bells of the Cascades (BOC) is a Portland-based community handbell ensemble formed in 1990 by a group of local ringers and directors who recognized that handbells and handbell music were rapidly changing, growing and, in many ways, being reinvented as an instrument. Their desire was to bring this rich repertoire and unique sound outside church services, where they are commonly heard, and to the community at large. In celebration of their 17th anniversary, BOC presents MAGIC, MYSTERY AND MAJESTY.
MAGIC, MYSTERY AND MAJESTY is perfect for all ages children, teenagers and adults. You are invited to experience the beautiful sights and sounds of MAGIC, MYSTERY AND MAJESTY with Bells of the Cascades. The concerts will include the Oregon premier performances of "Avalon," a piece commissioned for this concert and composed by Susan Sylvester.
