First Sundays at the Commons brings three celebrated jazz artists currently residing in Portland, Oregon to Bainbridge Island on Sunday, February 12 at 4:00pm. Comprised of Randy Porter on piano, John Wiitala on bass and Alan Jones on drums these musicians have each played with some of the greatest names in jazz in the United States and Europe. First Sundays at the Commons brings three celebrated jazz artists currently residing in Portland, Oregon to Bainbridge Island on Sunday, February 12 at 4:00pm. Comprised of Randy Porter on piano, John Wiitala on bass and Alan Jones on drums these musicians have each played with some of the greatest names in jazz in the United States and Europe. The trio is headed by Alan Jones, otherwise known as "the barefoot drummer" who ranks as one of the most creative and powerful jazz drummers, composers and teachers today and pianist Randy Porter a Steinway Artist who according to Lynn Darroch of The Oregonian "has built a reputation as a musician's musician, a knowledgeable, inventive and sophisticated player with a remarkable sense of time and gorgeous keyboard facility". This concert is a not to miss event for lovers of jazz and live music.
