West. . .East: Rina Khoury / Jordan / Short Film / 2006 This short film evokes the difficult journeys taken by many Villagers fleeing their homes seeking refuge in a safer place. Amer and his blind mother embark on this path not knowing where it would lead and how long they would be able to survive it. Rabia's Journey: Meyar Al Roumi / Syria / Short Film / 2006 A young teacher in rural Syria takes his fiance to meet his mother. During this first journey outside her village, the young woman experiences a whole new world. Winterland: Hisham Zaman / Norway / Iraq / Feature Film / 2007 Renas, a middle aged Kurdish immigrant from Iraq, has carved out a simple yet pleasant life for himself in rural Norway. His driving force has been the long-awaited arrival of Fermesk, his bride-to-be who he has yet to meet. When neither Renas nor Fermesk meet each others lofty expectations they must discover if true love is possible.
