James Sanders & Michael Maganuco
Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla put the 'nuevo' in nuevo tango in part by introducing improvisation to the traditional urban music of his home. Violinist James Sanders and harpist Michael Maganuco honor this radical innovation with their take on the music of Piazzolla and other Latin American composers.
James Sanders is a classically trained violinist who leads both the Latin jazz ensemble Conjunto and an experimental collective dubbed Proyecto Libre with Joshua Abrams, Avreeayl Ra and Jean-Christophe Leroy.
Michael Maganuco is a harpist who has performed with the New World Symphony, New England Philharmonic, and summer music festivals at Tanglewood Music Center.
