Guava Rugelach Lounge: Ladino: 500 Years Young
As an extension of the Miami Jewish Film Festival experience, Miami's own leading Ladino singer, Susana Behar, brings the music of the film Ladino: 500 Years Young to life at Next@19th's Guava Rugelach Lounge.

Susana Behar was born in La Habana to a Cuban/Turkish Sephardic family. She grew up listening and learning the traditional music of her homeland and the haunting 'kantikas' in Judeo-Spanish or Ladino, her Sephardic grandparents had brought
with them. After immigrating to Venezuela in 1965 and during the years living in Caracas, Susana explored and performed the music of her adoptive country as well as the Latin-American and Jewish folklores, starting her research of the Sephardic music
traditions. Susana has been living in Miami since 1983. Her musical interests have taken her to participate in many projects, recitals and festivals, both in Venezuela and
the United States and more recently, Japan and Peru. Her first CD, 'La galana y el mar', was released in October 2009.
Susana will be accompanied by Michel Gonzalez on the guitar, Federico Britos on the violin and Rajesh Bhandari on percussion.
