"This is a program dedicated to song and storytelling through music. Schubert was a hero to so many great composers, and Golijov's unique arrangements of Schubert songs entitled She was Here are hauntingly beautiful especially when paired with the prelude to Act III of Verdi's La Traviata. The transition from La Traviata to Schubert's Symphony No. 3 is a truly magical juxtaposition, starting from the foreshadowing of death and loss to the brightening of a youthful and hopeful 17-year-old Schubert."
