11/14/15 (Staunton) "Bach Comes to America: Virginia's Baroque Heritage"
Three Notch'd Road explores the musical personality of early Virginia with selections from the British Isles and Germany along with the early American music they resemble and inspire. Soprano Jessica Petrus and bass and bagpipe specialist Peter Walker join a chamber orchestra of instrumentalists for folk, hymnody and art traditions from both sides of the Atlantic: English songs by John Dowland and Thomas Ravenscroft, continental masterpieces by J.S. Bach, Luigi Boccherini and Leopold Mozart, and early American hymnody such as "Liberty Tree" and "Behold a Lovely Vine."
