Fireside Chat - Composing Classical Music Today
How does a composer work? In a unique presentation to the Beethoven Society, an emerging young composer of classical music will describe the creative process from ideas to final product, using a score and recorded excerpts. Dr. Leshnoff will describe the technological aspects of composition and the use of computer programs in composition. He will also discuss the networking involved among performers and publicists for moving a composition in to the music industry, as well as the development of commission agreements, and issues around copyrights and royalties. Business aspects and the business manager will also be discussed. This will be a fascinating window into things you never imagined about how a composer functions in today's world! Refreshmens will be provided.
