Fernanda Cunha

Fernanda Cunha is a Brazilian singer from Rio de janeiro. She began her career in 1997 and has since toured Brazil, Argentina, Europe, Asia and North America performing at prestigious international jazz festivals like Jazz a Juan (France), Wien Jazz festival(Austria), Aarhus Jazz festival (Denmark), Jazziberia-Badajoz (Spain), Borneo Jazz (Malaysia), Jazz al fin (Argentina), three times at Vancouver Jazz festival(Canada), Edmonton Jazz festival (Canada), Medicine Hat jazz (Canada), Toronto jazz(Canada), among others. Regular appearances at jazz festivals in Canada have helped to carve out a whole new fan base for Cunha's post-bossa groove, and she repaid the compliment with her 4th CD Brasil-Canada in 2009.
Fernanda has performed at Vancouver jazz festival in 2010, and now she is returning to Vancouver for a special concert on Saturday, October 8th at Performance works. Cunha will be accompanied by local musicians Michael Creber(piano), Doug Stephenson (bass) and Phil Belanger (drums) and they will play songs written by great Brazilian songwriters Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ivan Lins, Djavan, ,Toninho Horta, among others as well as a few songs by "Brasil Canada" CD.
