Skyflight Productions presents an evening with Tracy Grammer on Saturday November 19, 2011 at 8pm at the Albert S George Youth Center in Barnesville, OH. Born in Homestead, Florida, Grammer was raised in Southern California and began her musical journey on a borrowed violin at the age of 9. She came from a musical family. Her father, Jim Grammer, played acoustic, electric, and lap steel guitars. Grammer gained critical acclaim and recogntion performing alongside the late/great Dave Carter, simply known as Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer. Following Dave Carter's death in 2002, Tracy Grammer made the decision to play solo at several of the dates that they had scheduled, most notably an engagement at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Taking into account Carter's expressed wish that eventually she would sing all of the songs, she continued playing Carter's music. She has continued to tour solo, and has released three solo albums.
"Tracy Grammer is a brilliant artist and unique individual. Her voice is distinctive, as is her mastery over the instruments she plays."
- Joan Baez
"One of the finest pure musicians anywhere in folkdom."
- The Boston Globe
"[Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer have] become a treasured part of my music collection... Flower of Avalon presents more songs by Dave Carter, with Tracy at the helm as artist, interpreter, co-producer and the beating heart at the center of it all. Her pure voice conveys the simple truths of these songs; her gifts as a musician are like that of a painter who is a master of chiaroscuro, offering light and shadow at every turn.... I was honored and humbled by the invitation to sing on this record."
- Mary Chapin Carpenter
