The enigmatic band known as Marmoset have fostered a near-mythical cult status with their shambling, moody, and ethereal blend of indie pop. Now in their 16th year, Marmoset continue to be under-appreciated (yet critically acclaimed) heroes of lo-fi - seminal and central to an entire musical community whose tentacles have garnered national recognition and praise.
This September we will see the 10-year anniversary of their extraordinary second album Record In Red (which, according to Pitchfork, "ranks among the best albums released by Secretly Canadian"). In honor of the occasion Joyful Noise is reissuing all four of Marmoset's full-length albums on vinyl - and celebrating with an Indianapolis release show on September 10 at Radio Radio.
Also joining Marmoset will be Rot Gut, Nuclear (aka Richard Edwards from Margot & the Nuclear So and Sos), Vacation Club, and longtime collaborator with the band Vess Ruhtenberg.
