Special Event: Myths & Allegories
"Marvelous young soprano, Clara Rottsolkshould soon be a star in the early- music world." Don Rosenberg (Plain Dealer)
Soprano Clara Rottsolk won the hearts of critics and audiences alike last May when she sang with Les Délices in Myths & Allegories. Back by popular demand, Les Délices reprises this program in anticipation of recording it for commercial release.
Weaving dramatic depictions of tales from Homer's Odyssey together with instrumental chamber music inspired by Greek mythology, Myths & Allegories features cantatas by Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre (Le Sommeil d'Ulisse) and Thomas-Louis Bourgeois (Les Sirènes), plus selections from Jean-Féry Rebel's 1703 opera, Ulysse. The hero Ulysses confronts storms at sea, shipwrecks, the tantalizing allure of siren songs, and encounters with the Cyclopes all set to music in the course of this colorful, fantastic program.
Single Tickets: $75 All proceeds from this concert will support recording Myths & Allegories for commercial release.
