Les Délices: Games & Diversions
Games & Diversions ranging from innocent to licentious occupy our attentions in this program inspired by gambling and gossip, and fueled by an obsession with chocolate, wine, and other exotic brews. Acclaimed soprano Ellen Hargis joins Les Délices for excerpts from Charpentier's Plaisirs de Versailles and Bernier's delightful Coffee Cantata, while Marais depicts a game of badminton (Jeu de Volant), and Couperin teases out French foibles in his witty harpsichord suite, Folies Françoises.
