Jazz flugelhornist, composer, educator, and recording artist Dmitri Matheny returns to the Thumb for an evening of great jazz!
Celebrated for his warm tone, soaring lyricism, and masterful technique, American musician Dmitri Matheny has been lauded as "one of the most emotionally expressive improvisers of his generation" (International Review of Music) and "one of the jazz world's most talented horn players" (San Francisco Chronicle). The Dmitri Matheny Group featuring Bill Anschell (piano), Phil Sparks (bass), and Mark Ivester (drums) will perform a mix of fresh originals, familiar jazz classics, hard bop, West Coast cool, and familiar standards from the Great American Songbook.
