City Block Cinema: The Neighborhood Film Project
Join our team on Wednesday, July 22 at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center for the first edition of the Rivard Report's film series we're calling City Block Cinema that will, for the first time, showcase the winners of the Neighborhood Film Project in a formal setting. We will show the four winning films from this year as well as four films from previous competitions. The event will give local filmmakers a chance to elegantly present their voices in a venue steeped with history.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with a reception in the foyer before the film screenings. Libations will be provided by Dorćol Distilling Company and Alamo Beer Co. Tickets are available for just $10 through Brown Paper Tickets.
We will announce the 2015 winners one at a time on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) leading up to the event with short profiles of each filmmaker on our homepage. Submissions vary in length from 30 seconds to seven minutes and have been judged by a panel of industry professionals including artists, screenwriters, filmmakers and other media professionals.
The one and only Molly Cox, interim President and CEO of SA2020, will serve as the emcee for the night.
One of our primary goals as a publication is to ensure that voices from the community are heard from a larger platform. This goal is exemplified by City Block Cinema. San Antonio's talented and emerging local artists deserve to have their work shown and their voices heard.
