K-LAB is the incarnation of a band founded by Kristian Labak, originally from London, featuring heavily on the circuit in metal band 'Sherif's Illness' and alt acoustic band 'J*RK' before moving to Edinburgh and focussing on a solo project as well as being one fifth of the local alternative super-group 'Skylab'. K-LAB's other equal quarters are all prevalent on the Edinburgh music scene in a number of guises, both previous and current, Andy Mallarkey (Amplifico, Azadeh, Douglas Kay Band), Chris Gibson (Stealer, The Elements) and the newly recruited Alan Davison (Underbelly, The Elements). Fusing percussive acoustics and melody hooks, cello strings and groove-laden drums, K-LAB are set to excite in the near future and looking to record a debut EP in 2011. http://k-lab.bandcamp.com/ www.myspace.com/klabsound
BEN STURROCK grew up in St Andrews where he began performing at open mic nights in a variety of local bars. He soon became a local favourite, hosting such nights in a number of popular locations and performing live for a local radio station, STAR FM. Since moving to Glasgow Ben has become a well established singer/songwriter amongst Glasgow's thriving live music scene playing shows in venues such as the Tron Theatre, ABC 2, Glasgow City Halls, O2 Academy and King Tut's. In 2007 he was voted Glasgow's best breakthrough singer/songwriter. Inspired by the sounds of Ray Lamontagne, Eric Bibb, and John Mayer, Ben has a unique and soulful sound that captures your attention from the first note. www.myspace.com/bensturrockmusicSee more
