New Year's Eve Viennese Gala Concert

This concert, at 6pm on New Year's Eve, is a light and joyful programme of classical Viennese favourites, including works by Johann Strauss II and Franz Lehár, and finishes by 8pm allowing the audience time afterwards to enjoy the rest of New Year's Eve however they wish!
"Britain's leading operatic duo", Claire Rutter and Stephen Gadd, are joined by the Southern Sinfonia (Konzertmeister Alexander Hohenthal) conducted by Matthew Wood.
Claire Rutter, international star soprano and regular at English National Opera and at Grange Park Opera, will appear this season in the title roles of "Tosca" at ENO, "Aida" at the Royal Albert Hall, and "Madama Butterfly" at Grange Park Opera. Her husband, Stephen Gadd, received rave reviews for his performances in the title role of "Macbeth" at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and for his portrayal of Kurwenal in "Tristan & Isolde" at Grange Park Opera earlier this year.
Of their joint appearance in London's Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Daily Telegraph reported that "Rutter and Gadd delivered riveting performances."
The Southern Sinfonia will be authentically led in this Viennese programme by talented Austrian Konzertmeister, violinist Alexander Hohenthal, and conducted by Matthew Wood, whose next engagement will be with the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden.
