Martinsville native, Derek Bishop, just released his sophomore album, Bicycling In Quicksand. The 10-song record is a seamless blend of 70s disco, 80s new wave, and about 12 other genres thrown in the mix. Bishop's gift for connecting to audiences through personal stories, splashed with a plethora of contagious melodies, boosts this singer/songwriter album into the sonic stratosphere. Quicksand just called "one of the best indie pop records of the year." by Echo magazine is deep, rich, and colorful. It's an exhibition of Bishop's talents as a lyricist, tunesmith and arranger. Derek will be on tour this summer supporting the album.
