"An uber-inclusive, alterna-queer, mini-rock extravaganza" and "Possibly the most diverse scene in the city."  --Time Out Chicago

"one of the musical underground's most vibrant and diverse club nights"Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun-Times

Chicago, IL  On Friday, July 8th, The Flesh Hungry Dog Show presents "Homo Hop"-a vintage rock and roll themed edition of our monthly live music series.  Come twist the night away with featured bands, Bric-a-Brac, Pieptone!, and Suzy Brack and the New Jack Lords, along with special guests, go-go dancing troupe, The Revelettes.

The Flesh Hungry Dog Show starts at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8th, 2011 at Jackhammer (773-743-5772), 6406 N. Clark St. in Chicago. Jackhammer is a 21+ venue.  Tickets are $10 at the door or $8 online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/158398

The mission of The Flesh Hungry Dog Show is to bring live rock and related musical forms to Chicago's gay community, and to provide a fun, alternative venue for bands with GLBT content and members, and bands that are GLBT supportive.

Bric-a-Brac
The definition of Bric-a-Brac is "miscellaneous curios" and true to their name, Bric-a-Brac covers the world of little known songs found on thrift store records and B-sides of singles giving them a fresh sound for today's  audience. Rock, pop and lounge are blended into a velvety sonic soundscape to create what 60's poet icon Rod McKuen called 'an amazingly large sound'. Starting their second decade of performing, Bric-a-Brac has performed on NPR's This American Life, Chic-a-Go-go, Milly's Orchid Show, and was the prom band at The Old Towne School of Folk Music's 50th anniversary "Homecoming Dance".

Suzy Brack and the New Jack Lords
Suzy Brack & The New Jack Lords combine a luau look and powerpunk hooks with some rockabilly spice for one of the most visually vibrant shows around. To use comparison shorthand, if Bette Midler was the leader of Green Day you'd get the idea but it'd be even more fun fun fun. This year they can also be seen and heard on the big screen too- appearing as themselves in "At Last, Okemah," and providing a new single for the forthcoming "Fall Away" film. This trademark tiki-rock is created by dynamo vocalist Suzy Brack with guitarist/singer/composer Davin Carey, full-throttle drummer Scott Gillis, big-bottom bassist Kirk Bec and for this Flesh Hungry Dog show the return of fiery lead guitarist Gary Santos. That's Suzy Brack & The New Jack Lords!

Pieptone!
Pieptone! was conceived by former Goethe Institut Chicago students who thought a party band that sings "auf Deutsch" might be a good way to bring language learners together and help them master a bit of German grammar  a musical Rosetta Stone at a fraction of the cost. The Pieptone! songbook is from a linguistic golden age of pop music: the pre-Beatles-era 1950s and 60s, when bands and singers from Europe and the US looked beyond their own borders and cut the same single in two, three, or four languages.

Chicago's only Schlager band (Schlager = "hits") takes its cues from midcentury European pop idols like Rex Gildo, Gitte, and Peter Kraus, and American singers like Connie Francis and Chubby Checker who weren't afraid to tackle a new language to climb the national pop charts. You don't need to speak German to feel the Pieptone! beat: Die Sprache der Popmusik ist universal! (The language of pop music is international.)
