Cabaret Red Light's NUTCRACKER
Drawing on the original story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, Cabaret Red Light's ballet-and-burlesque NUTCRACKER uses a variety of media, including shadow puppets, kinetic sculpture, live music and narrative dance, to tell the classic tale of a child's troubled visions on Christmas Eve. Features original orchestral score by Rolf Lakaemper and Peter Gaffney, costumes by Anna Frangiosa and choreography by Christine Fisler. For mature audiences. Cabaret Red Light is a 20+ member troupe of Philadelphia's most talented vaudeville performers, mixing original live music, dark comedy, puppet theatre and burlesque in the spirit of the decadent 1920s. Since first forming in 2008, they have performed to sold out audiences at Plays and Players Theater, L'Etage, Chaplin's Music Café, the Palace of Wonders in D.C. and Pier 11 in Brooklyn, NY. They were listed by TimeOut New York as a "must-see" and have been chosen three times by Philadelphia's City Paper as Agenda Pick of the Week.
