The Dusty 45s at Bloedel Reserve
One of the most entertaining bands in Seattle, the Dusty 45s are famous for blending a variety of sounds for something described by one critic as "loungacana," blending lounge music with gospel, swing, rockabilly, honky tonk, jump jive, barrelhouse blues, country western, and mariachi. Lead singer Billy Joel Huels channels Johnny Cash, does a spot-on impersonation of Buddy Holly, and even plays the trumpet south-of -the-border style. The Dusty 45s tour all over the country, and play locally at The Triple Door, Neumos, and the Tractor. The other Dustys are Jerry Battista, lead guitar and vocals; Kelly Van Camp, drums, harmonica, and vocals; and Jeff Gray, upright bass and vocals.
Get ready to get up out of your chair. (And watch out for the flaming trumpet!)
