Simon Carrington Chamber Singers / Juxtapositions - Kansas City Concert
The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers will present Juxtapositions, a stunning program exploring the stark contrasts and rich diversity of choral literature. The concerts scheduled for June 10 in Kansas City, MO and June 11 in Topeka, KS mark the third season of performances for the group.
The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers (SCCS), a world class choral music ensemble based in Kansas City, is led by internationally renowned artistic director Simon Carrington. The group, which includes choral artists from around the country, was founded in 2008 by three of Carrington's former students who shared a desire to form an elite professional vocal chamber ensemble under his direction.
Juxtapositions will feature works by Franz Liszt, Francis Poulenc, Benjamin Britten, and David Lang as well as Kansas City composers Jean Belmont and Nicholas Omiccioli. The group will also perform Revelation Window by Bernard Hughes, the piece that received top honors in the 2011 SCCS composition competition.
The SCCS third season concerts will take place on June 10, 2011 at 8 p.m. at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City, MO and on June 11, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Grace Cathedral in Topeka, KS. Tickets cost $20 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors.
