K2 (Kip Jones & Karl Doty)
Fans of the Silk Road Ensemble and Appalachian Waltz will find themselves in good hands with Kip and Karl (K2), who have crafted an adventurous evening of song drawing on both classical and folk traditions. Karl Doty (double bass) received his masters from NEC, and regularly performs with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra as well as Boston's renegade chamber group, A Far Cry. Kip Jones (violin) has studied on three continents, and has recently released a solo violin album lauded as "solid and truthful and deeply intriguing" (Bebopified). Be prepared for virtuosic yet heartfelt performance of original songs from diverse roots.
