Carrie Newcomer in Concert
Tickets still available at the door. Box office opens at 6 p.m.. Doors open at 6:30 p.m..
Singer/Songwriter Carrie Newcomer shares gems of songs, cut from the stone of ordinary life. Rolling Stone says she "asks all the right questions and refuses to settle for easy answers". Her rich voice delivers songs of fierce intimacy, infused with natural images and respect for all; she is frequently compared to the poets Mary Oliver and Wendell Berry. Newcomer is "a poet, storyteller, snake-charmer, good neighbor, friend, and lover," says author Barbara Kingsolver. Cutting across boundaries of secular and spiritual, this Quaker artist invites us all to live more whole-hearted lives.
Free parking is available in the parking lot on 45th Avenue & 15th Avenue NE. You're welcome.
Newcomer's appearance is produced by the Church Council of Greater Seattle, as part of our work to create crossroads of understanding and collaboration among diverse communities. The concert kicks-off a weekend conference, Weaving Our Strengths, which supports local churches' efforts for the common good. The concert will be welcoming to people of all beliefs. Tickets for the concert alone are best purchased here. Those who wish to attend the entire conference may register at http://thechurchcouncil.ejoinme.org/WOS, and add a concert ticket to their purchase.
This concert is made possible by generous sponsorship from: The Center for Courage & Renewal, Dancing Word, and the Creativity Council of University Congregational United Church of Christ.
