The Red Wattle Heritage Pig Project: A Documentary
Please join Ecotrust and the Oregon Culinary Institute (OCI) for a special screening of The Red Wattle Heritage Pig Project, the first installment in OCI's "Ethics in Food" documentary series.
A 20-minute documentary by Actual Industries, The Heritage Pig Project relates the journey of three Red Wattle pigs that were purchased by Oregon Culinary Institute. Two of the pigs were pen raised and one was pasture raised as part of an effort to educate the students on issues of farming, food ethics, and ultimately, flavor.
6 pm: Small porcine-related bites from OCI and beer and wine from project partners Upright Brewing and Chehalem Winery.
6:30 pm: The movie begins.
7 pm: Q&A with the project's founders and key participants.
Tickets are on a sliding scale, from $5 to $15. All proceeds support Ecotrust's Farm to School program, which works to bring healthy, regionally grown products to the school lunchroom, educate students about agriculture and support regional farmers.
