Supercharge Me! 30 Days Raw
"Supercharge Me!" is one of the most talked-about documentaries this year. In March "Supercharge Me" won "Best Motivational Film" at the first-ever Raw Lifestyle Film Festival in Hollywood, California after already having won the "Best Documentary" award at the prestigious 9th Annual Tofino Film Festival on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Tofino is an international showplace for entertaining films dedicated to the environment, conservation and healthy living.
This independent documentary film is the story of one young woman's lifelong dream: to dress up as a Las Vegas showgirl for Halloween. That dream met bulging reality in the mirror, but she was determined to make her dream come true by spending 30 days eating only vegan, raw, organic food and learning a new lifestyle. The "rawcumentary" is the healthy answer to "Super Size Me," the documentary by Morgan Spurlock who ate only McDonald's food for 30 days and suffered the consequences.
Emmy Award-winning TV producer John Biffar called the film not only entertaining and engaging, " ... but one that does what few films can ... make you a different person by the time the credits roll." Ben Vereen said, "I love it!" Praise comes also from Chris Haley, nephew of author Alex Haley (Roots) and Director of the Utopia Film Festival in Greenbelt, Maryland. When "Supercharge Me!" was screened there, Haley termed it "not only a crowd-pleaser, but it sparked action on many of its viewers to get out and immediately ravage some raw foods!"
"Supercharge Me" tells the journalistic story of veteran public relations professional and independent producer Jenna Norwood. Her Las Vegas dream took her on an odyssey from Sarasota, Florida to San Diego, California, where she began a 30-day raw food "detox" program. The program focused on cleansing the body from the inside out and learning a lifestyle based on uncooked "living foods," including organic fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted grains and juices. Cameras followed Jenna as she interviewed raw food guru David Wolfe, doctors, celebrities (Ben Vereen and Kathy Sledge) and others who follow the raw food lifestyle.
