Strangled Darlings' BOOM STOMP KING Album Release + There is No Mountain
After a year touring America, we return to our hometown, Portland, to release BOOM STOMP KING. Please join us to hear the new songs and what a year on the road has done before we head out to do it again!
About BOOM STOMP KING The phrase to sum up the fourth studio release for the duo Strangled Darlings' Boom Stomp King may simply be: you can't take it with you. The effect of objects on our lives and the ridiculous fear we have of losing those objects binds the songs together. The routines of suburban life become their own sad, recognizable spirituality while we wait and wait to act. Meanwhile, death snickers from the wings.
Boom Stomp King was created under the self-imposed pressures of quitting the day jobs, selling of the personal effects and moving in a tiny RV. The goal was to head out into the ocean of America, away from the safe harbor of Portland. The duo now lives in a twenty for C-class RV traveling from Walmart to Walmart in between their heavy full time tour schedule across the United States.
This is the only planned Strangled Darlings Portland show for 2015! http://www.strangleddarlings.com/
THERE IS NO MOUNTAIN There Is No Mountain is a Portland, OR-based husband-and-wife duo that combines percussion, guitar, and an affinity for vocal harmony to create a unique brand of pop with intricate, world-music-influenced arrangements. The band's subtly virtuosic style has been compared in print to current acts like The Dirty Projectors and classics like Paul Simon's Graceland, but it is perhaps more telling that reviewers have tried to peg the duo's musical influences in genres ranging from jazz to folk, classical to psychedelic rock, and world music to doom metal. Kali and Matt call it "pop with a short attention span". more at www.thereisnomountain.com
