TONY FURTADO BAND (Bio)
Genre-spanning multi-instrumentalist Tony Furtado combines elements of folk, blues, bluegrass, rock, and a whole lot more into a potent Americana musical blend that explores our shared musical frontiers and traditions with fearless creativity. David Lindley calls Tony Furtado "a musical force without a doubt," and the two-time national banjo champion and peerless slide guitar master does indeed burn it down, whether performing solo, in a duo or trio, or with the house-rocking five-piece Tony Furtado Band.
A prolific and adventuresome recording artist, Furtado has recorded nearly 20 critically acclaimed albums since 1990 for such labels as Rounder Records, Dualtone, What Are Records and Funzalo Records. His most recent album, The Bell, was released on his own YousayFurtado Records in 2015, as was an accompanying six-song EP, Copper and Tin. Relix hit the nail on the head when writing of Tony Furtado and his boundary-stretching music: "True talent doesn't need categories."
