Straight from the Louis Armstrong school of musicianship, trumpeter Bria Skonberg is a leading figure in today's traditional jazz scene. Making the journey from rural Canada to New York City proved a fortuitous one for Skonberg, as she now performs with numerous groups and curates the New York Hot Jazz Festival. She has twice been included in DownBeat Magazine's Rising Star Critic's Poll, and in 2014 released Into Your Own, a collection of twelve songs that showcase her trumpet and vocal chops and her knack as a bandleader and arranger.
