With 21 years on the road and 14 albums under their belts, Puerto Rican ensemble Plena Libre keeps getting better with time, as their four recent Grammy nominations illustrate. Founded and led by bassist Gary Nuñez, the group has spearheaded a rise in prominence of Puerto Rican music in the United States. The tightly arranged yet accessibly danceable style balances traditional and contemporary aspects of Puerto Rican music and has been a hit on stages across the globe.
