Barangay Idol
Barangay Idol is an annual fund-raising singing competition targeting up-and-coming artists and performers in the Filipino community. Barangay Idol provides an evening of entertainment in a safe and inclusive space to highlight the brightest vocalist in the Los Angeles area.
Doors open at 6:30pm.
Full bar and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
We are also honored to have great judges judging out contestants, Janelle So from Kababayan L.A., Bernardo Bernardo noted actor and comedian, Jonathan Ilano singer and past winner, Ben Biscocho from FilAM Arts and Bernard Sanchez.
Proceeds from this event will support Barangay LA's Month-of-Advocacy, "TULAY: Bridge to Help to Fight Youth Suicide," an art and symposium event focused on LGBTQ suicide prevention in the Filipino community.
This event is hosted by Barangay LA, a community organization dedicated to providing a supportive environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning Filipinos; to meet and discuss concerns relevant to being Filipino and LGBTQ; to foster positive self-esteem; and to advocate on behalf of its members and the LGBTQ community of Los Angeles.
