Alive! celebrates a forty year milestone with a special reunion concert. Together for ten years, from 1975 to 1985, the all-female jazz quintet not only reflected the evolution of jazz in the '70s, but also the growing presence of women as instrumentalists in contemporary music. After splitting up, they all went on to pursue individual careers. Reuniting are four of the original members, drummer Barbara Borden; percussionist Carolyn Brandy; bassist/cellist Susanne DiVincenza; and vocalist Rhiannon. They are joined by pianist Tammy Hall (original pianist Janet Small passed away in 2010). "Always Alive!" is a compilation album of their recordings.
