Guitarist/composer Ray Obiedo is hard to pin down to any one style. Equal parts funk, Afro-Caribbean, and Brazilian influences, Obiedo's distinctive sound can be delicately melodic or funkily percussive. Whether performing one of his own groove-oriented compositions or reworking a favorite standard, Obiedo is the epitome of taste. As a sideman, he has performed with B-3 master Johnny "Hammond" Smith, Herbie Hancock, and Maceo Parker among other top artists. His compositions have been recorded by Tower of Power, Bruce Forman, Pete Escovedo, and many others.
