The Broken Consort on the Perfect Harmony Concert Series
The first Perfect Harmony concert of Spring will be on March 25 and will feature mezzo-soprano, Emily Lau, with her group called The Broken Consort. This rich mezzo-soprano brings early music specialists...singers & harpist together with a mellow saxophonist. Their music is early but pollinated with extremely tasteful contemporary jazz melodies.
The Broken Consort
This exciting new ensemble, The Broken Consort, is a flexible group with a roster of early music and modern American music specialists. The Broken Consort discovers new sounds and sonorities by pairing and mixing music, explorations into new ways of presentation, and connecting music and other artistic medium from contrasting genres.
The director, Emily Lau is an active recitalist and chamber musician in the Boston area with a special interest in early repertoire. Her 2010-2011 engagements include collaborations with the Choir at the Church of the Advent, Blue Heron Renaissance Choir, Piffaro, Parthenia, Long and Away, and Tucson Chamber Artists. Emily has worked with esteemed conductors such as Sir David Willcocks, Jo-Michael Scheibe, Franz Welser-Möst, Simon Carrington, and Charles Bruffy.Herconcert/oratorio credits includeB minor Mass, the Messiah, Israel in Egypt, Corigliano's Fern Hill, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Schubert's Mass in C, Vaughn William's Mass in G, Mozart Mass in C, and Buonemani's Missa Miamiensis. Equally passionate and versatile in new music, Emily is involved in many regional and world premieres of brand new works.
The Perfect Harmony Concert Series -- crossing the borders between the old and the new...far and near. Encouraging the evolution of Art and encouraging artists to explore and create and share. Our concerts are at St. Marks Episcopal Church in historic North Easton, MA. St Marks Church is a lovely, spiritually rich historical building possessing sweet acoustics.
The concert series is directed & produced by Harris Shilakowsky, in his role as director of the non-profit Chamber Music Society of Easton. Shilakowsky is a concert violinist and music production specialist specializing in composing, arranging, recording and teaching music.
