2011 Annual Hand-Car Regatta
Welcome to the Fourth Annual Handcar Regatta ticketing site. Here you will find information about the different types and prices of the tickets we are offering this year.

But first a moment about why we are charging this year. After much though and consideration, the Regatta organization felt it was more important to keeping the event financially viable and moving forward. The only way to do this was to begin charging admission. We have made every effort to keep the prices as low as possible.

There are three general admission tickets this year: $5, $8 and $10. The $5 early bird is available until July 15th, from July 16th to September 24th, the general admission ticket price is $8 and admission on the day of the event is $10.

General admission allows you access to most areas of the Regatta. You will see multi stages of music and information, lots of food and craft vendors, and track side viewing of all the races.

This year's Ascended Masters VIP ticket allows those in the community who wish to give more and enjoy their own private viewing area to do so. Located near the finish line like last year, Ascended Masters will receive complimentary food, wine and beer. And an unobstructed view of the track and finish line. Wine will be supplied by D'Argenzio winery, with beer supplies by Lagunitas Brewing Company.

Ascended Masters VIP Tickets are $100 for adults and $35 for children under 16.

The Handcar Regatta represents a public celebration of Mechanical Railcar Races, Visual, Culinary, and Costumed Performing Arts combined with an inclusive concept of Community Participation and Human Ingenuity embracing sustainability, alternative transportation, and good old fashioned fun.

ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION
The railcar races at the center of the Regatta highlights Innovation and Human-Powered Ingenuity to devise cheaper, viable, and hitherto undreamed of methods for bizarre transport beyond the standard notions of to-day. Together with an emphasis on biking, the Regatta provides a platform for playfulness and sustainable concerns within the realm of human-powered alternative transportation.

PARTICIPATION & INTERACTION
Tinkerers, artists, and eccentrics both young and old are invited to participate in Artistic and Mechanical Innovation upon a playful and inspired mixture of fond remembrance for a stylized industrial railroad past remixed with progressive styles and technologies of today. The public is invited to partake in the Regatta through a participatory attitude, costumed buffoonery, and enlightened interaction (never fear: those with inhibitions in the costume department need not worry, feel free to come as you are and enjoy).

BEYOND THE GALLERY
Creative endeavor is cultivated through Art, Science and Ingenuity by many in the community beyond the insulated galleries, studios, and museums and out into the street for People to engage in. "Play-ticipation" is key to The Handcar Regatta and for the public who heartily join our cause of arts, inventiveness, and doing.

COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT
Ultimately, the storied history of the Santa Rosa West End and Railroad Square are honored as a spring-board of community enriching involvement and alternative entertainment far beyond the trappings of idle consumption and detached spectatorship.

ADVENTUROUS IMAGINATION
The Handcar Regatta will delight the senses with Railcar Races, Melodious Music, Daring Diversions, Rollicking Games, Delectable Comestibles, and all manner of Adventurous Entertainments with a progressive soul grounded in experimentation, imagination, playfulness, and the empowering act of creation and FUN!

Q&A

Question: How do I obtain a flyer for this event?
Answer: They will be in Railroad Square by 5/10/11

Question: What is the advantage of the robber baron tickets?
Answer: Robber Baron tickets are for our very special supports who can do a bit more to help produce the event. Additionally, Robber Barons have a VIP tented area at the end of the tracks and complimentary food and wine all day.

Question: Where can I buy tickets in person? Can I buy it at a local store
Answer: Tickets are available at Cast Away Yarn Shop, My Friend Joe and Revolution Moto.

Question: I have an elderly gentleman who is most eager to see this event. However, he is not too steady on his feet. Is there a place for him to sit. I don't think he can afford the $100 seats.
Answer: Unfortunately we don't provide seating at the event for public viewing of the races. We do have hay bales scattered through the event for seating but these do not allow track views. Additionally, there is a 3" barrier between the public and the race tracks. You are alllowed to bring compact fold up seating but the allowed areas are not covered. And our apolgies, we have tried to solve this problem for a number of years but we simply don't have space to provide and it is very cost prohibative.

Question: ...regarding the questions about seating...last year there was a set of bleachers. Will they be available to the public?
Answer: We experimented with bleachers in 2009 but found the lack of shade available in that area made them ineffective.

Question: What kind of goodies are you offering kids in the VIP section? Sodas? Balloons?
Answer: Food. Drinks. Areas to sit, enjoy and watch the races.

Question: How can Copperfield's Books take a booth at the Regatta? Please respond to vdearmon@copperbook.com or by calling 707-776-7284. Thanks very much.
Answer: By visiting www.handcarregatta.com

Question: When is z deadline for online ticket purchasing?
Answer: Saturday the 24th at Noon.

Question: What are the general admission prices for children?
Answer: Under 16 are free with a parent or guardian.

Question: What's the earliest we can stake out a spot, and can we set up a shade structure?
Answer: Due to changes in the event site, no shade structures are allowed this year.

Question: Where can I get the Ascended Master / Robber Baron T-shirt?
Answer: This year's event shirt will be located in the Libation tents throughout the event.
