OPENING NIGHT - 2nd Annual REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium - San Francisco Bay Area Edition (SF)
Opening night (not included in the FESTIVAL PASS) features the San Francisco Premiere of Girl on the Edge, starring Peter Coyote.
Girl on the Edge follows the journey of a young girl struggling with the aftermath of a horrific trauma, the toll that it takes on her family and the last chance she has to overcome it in the most unlikely of places. This film is a moving account of how we can find strength even when we're at our most vulnerable, and that the only thing keeping us from our own happiness is our willpower to achieve it Based on a true story, this movie is a powerful drama from the co-writer of Blue Valentine and the Exec. Producer and Co-Creator of A&E's The Cleaner with a phenomenally talented cast. Directed by Jay Silverman, the screening will be followed by Q&A with Jay and actor Mackenzie Phillips.
This will be followed by a VIP Reception at the Hotel Kabuki with live music by singer/songwriter Elizabeth Edwards.
REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium - San Francisco 2015
June 11-14, 2015, Alcohol Justice and Writers In Treatment are presenting The 2nd Annual REEL Recovery Film Festival & Symposium - San Francisco Bay Area Edition.
The four-day festival will present 18 select feature-length and short, fictional and factual alcohol and drug addiction themed films in 14 sessions that highlight highlight alcohol and drug misuse and addiction as well as the hope and opportunity for recovery.
There will be expert panel discussions following most of the screenings which will take place primarily at the New People Cinema on Post Street in San Francisco (SF). There will also be 3 special sessions at the California Film Institute's Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael (SR). In addition, there will be a related free event - a book launch/reading/signing at Book Passage in the SF Ferry Building.
