Guava Rugelach Lounge Featuring Harmonic Motion
Sepharad and Beyond: Harmonic Motion duo performs Sephardic or Judeo-Spanish songs and Middle Eastern music and dance from lands where Sephardim settled after their expulsion from Spain in 1492.
Harmonic Motion's music and dance focus on folkloric and ethnic idioms, cross cultural, and improvisational projects. Their performances feature Middle Eastern, Armenian, and North African music and dance as well as collaborations with jazz, avant-garde, modern, improvisational, flamenco, Indian, Balkan, African, Afro-Cuban, Sephardic, and other forms. Award-winning core performers musician/composer Joe Zeytoonian and dancer/percussionist Myriam Eli have been spreading their abundant knowledge of culturally-rooted musical expression through their presence in South Florida and touring internationally for many years. Harmonic Motion has appeared at the Guava Rugelach Festival since its inception and plan to return again for Guava Rugelach Festival 2011 in the fall.
