BAROQUE BASH!!!
You know the old saying: If it ain't Baroque... Well, the LAVC Music Department is going Baroque for this very special concert. It's a well known fact that music can uplift us. Undeniably, there is no more joyful music than Baroque. So kick off your April and spring in to a joyful and uplifting concert of familiar and rarely heard music of Bach, Handel, Purcell and Vivaldi. With a grand array of soloists, you will enjoy the Valley Symphony Orchestra as they present Bach's Orchestral Suite No.1 and the Vivaldi Concerto for 2 Mandolins (played on guitar by our very own Dr. Greg Newton and Atticus Travis-McKittrick). And for lovers of great choral music, the LAVC College Choir and Philharmonic Choir will join the orchestra in excerpts from Purcell's Birthday Ode for Queen Mary and Handel's Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne (featuring the nationally known operatic mezzo-soprano Diana Tash). Come hear live these great celebratory works and enjoy the grandeur that is the Baroque!!!
This concert is held on the LAVC campus in the Mainstage Theatre of the Theater Building, just south of the Music Building (near the intersection of Oxnard and Fulton). Free parking is available in the lot just north of the Music Building (Lot B).
For concert and general information, please call the LAVC Music Department at 818-947-2346.
