ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. It progressively interrupts the brain's ability to control the body's voluntary muscle functions, including breathing and speech. It leaves a fully emotional and thinking brain trapped inside a silent, motionless shell. It can attack ANYONE regardless of age, race, sex or economic status. There is NO CURE. The average life expectancy is 2 - 5 years from diagnosis. Veterans of any age that serve Active Duty are TWICE AS LIKELY to be diagnosed. 40% of families living with an ALS patient are forced to live in poverty.
ROCK OUT ALS raises awareness and funds for ALS TDI for research and development of a medical therapy that will interrupt the progression of ALS and extend lives. It does this by holding 6 - 8 rock events a year and combine it with videos and honest talk about ALS, What it does, and how people can help.
